This morning I was watching the TV before I caught the bus to work and what should they be talking about... Millie Holmes, should the media be covering it. They where debating if they should be and how they should have been covering the story.

I don’t have a problem with them using Millie Holmes as a way of targeting the issue of drugs and the fact that the story made it to the news doesn’t concern me. What gets me is that in the same night there was a aircraft that had to land in Blenheim with no wheels, The New Zealand High Commissioner to FIJI had gone missing and there was a shooting in Melbourne killing one and wounding two people that where also on the news on the same night. Out of the four stories that I have just mentioned what story do you think lead the news????? That’s right Millie Holmes and her drug problems.

Like I said there is nothing wrong with using the daughter of a New Zealand media personally to highlight the problem in this country with drugs but I don’t think that it needed to be leading the news. Police deal with drugs on a daily basis, there is nothing new there. What made Millie Holmes different? Her father and that she was working on the new TV game show to New Zealand, Deal or No Deal.

It just goes to show that if you have money and are well connected then you can get all the attention that you want and will get treated differently to the rest of the population. Paris Hilton is another story that has started to get on my nerves as well. My feeling is that if you are going to do the crime then you should to the time just like everyone else. If I get convicted of a crime then I’m expecting to spend the time in prison with the rest of the general population, My feeling is that if you are in a position of importance then you need to respect that position. If you make the decision to break the law and there are no extenuating circumstances as to the reason you broke the law then you should spend you time just like everyone else. If you want special treatment then there should be a reason for it. What are those reason I hear you ask. I’m not going into which profession should get special treatment but it shouldn’t be that you are a daughter of a media personality or that your father has lots of money.
